ACNielsen announced today that Mr Joshua Luk and Mr Paul Anthony Yao have been appointed Director, ACNielsen Qualitative (Quali) Research Hong Kong respectively. The appointment of Yao and Luk demonstrates ACNielsen’s effort as market leader in accelerating the development and growth of qualitative research in Hong Kong.
In their new roles, Yao and Luk will lead the Qualitative Research Team in Hong Kong in strengthening the company’s Quali business. They are responsible for respective premium clients with special focus in industries like banking and finance, retailing, telecommunications and FMCG where ACNieslen has incomparable experience.
“The appointment of Paul and Joshua demonstrates our commitment to enhance the qualitative research service which requires special skills and is most sought-after by consumer-related companies these days,” commented Ms Fanny Chan, Managing Director, ACNielsen Hong Kong. “With our clients’ growing need for information beyond data, Paul and Joshua will play a key role in providing clients clients with valuable insightst by revealing what’s in consumers’ mind.”
Mr Yao has over 15 years of experience in qualitative research around the world with different companies. Prior to taking up this new role at ACNielsen recently, Yao ran his own research consultancy firm, Brand Harmonics and worked with well-known brands like Daimler Chrysler Mercedes-Benz, HSBC, Unilever and Coca Cola etc..He also spent a number of years working at Added Value in Australia and Lyncs Incorporated, Japan, where he held senior positions in the respective Qualitative Research Group. Yao was a graduate of University of Toronto in Canada with a major in Sociology.
Mr Luk joined ACNielsen from Research International in Shanghai where he was overseeing a research team and supervised the nation-wide qualitative research projects. His major clients in Shanghai included big names like Motorola, IBM, Colegatem Pepsi and Unilever etc. Prior to that, Joshua was Associate Director, Asian Market Intelligence (AMI) based in Beijing, China. Luk holds a master degree in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge and a bachelor degree in Social Science from the ChineseUniversity of Hong Kong.
Luk and Yao are no strangers to ACNielsen, having worked for the company - and/or its previous incarnation as Survey Research Hong Kong - in the ‘90s.
