I-Scan

Measuring Purchasing at the Individual Level

ACNielsen I-Scan consumer panels provide information on the products an individual consumer purchases out-of-the-home.  Consumers participating in an I-Scan panel scan the products they purchase as they go about their daily lives, using a pocket-sized scanning device attached to a key-chain and kept with them at all times.

Capturing 'Impulse' Purchasing Out of Home

In an increasingly out of doors living environment, where the trend towards 'individualisation' has never been greater, ACNielsen I-Scan panels provide critical insight into impulse purchasing trends through convenience stores, vending machines, bars and cafes, etc.  This individual-level consumption information can be used to supplement in-home purchase information captured through our Homescan panels for a more complete picture of trends in categories with a high percentage of out of supermarket purchasing, eg confectionery, beverages and tobacco.

I-Scan consumer panels add another element to ACNielsen's integrated retail measurement, consumer panel and customised research capabilities.

Specialist Panels
Specialist panels that target specific demographic segments or category purchasing are also available, where I-Scan panels are established specifically to track purchases in categories such as skin-care, baby care, tobacco, liquor and cosmetics.
